As always, the BEST way to recover data, and to guarantee 100% success, is to back it up before an accident occurs. If you need assistance in setting up a backup solution for yourself, your family or your small business, please give us a call. We offer online backup solutions or can help you set up a local backup solution that fits your needs.
With failing storage media (hard drives, USB drives, digital cameras, smartphones, etc), sometimes you only have one chance to do data recovery and if someone attempts any less advanced technique first, you may have ruined any chance of further recovery attempts, even from the best professional out there. If you have data that you absolutely must recover with minimal risk of failure, the Off-site Data Recovery option below is the best option we can recommend.
Another important thing to note is that Business, Homeowners & Renters Insurance policies can often cover the cost of data recovery. The terms that may cover this would be under "loss of intellectual property", "loss of documents & records", or for more general blanket property coverage "loss or damage of property due to unforeseen circumstances". For businesses this may fall under "business critical" if it affects your ability to conduct day-to-day business. That can be a huge savings if advanced recovery is required. Please speak with your insurance provider to find out if you may be covered.
None of these options guarantee data recovery and be wary of anyone that does!
In-House Basic Recovery
- Done at in-shop flat repair rate ($95).
- Covers transfer of data from one PC to another. If the data transfer includes specialized application data (ex. moving Microsoft Outlook email), please let us know. Whether that is possible is done on a case by case basis depending on the software.
- Covers data recovery from failing storage media if no damage has been done to the file system and recovery can be done by simple file copying or drive cloning.
- Typical in-shop turn around time (5-7 business days).
- If no data is recovered, then estimate fee only ($40).
In-House Advanced Recovery
- Rate is a flat fee of $175 ($40 non-refundable deposit required). This method is typically required when damage has been done to the file system. More advanced methods and time are required.
- When recovering data from damaged file systems or media, full data recovery of the entire drive is typically impossible and a list of specific files is needed to target recovery.
- Turn around time is completely dependent on how much data recovery is needed and how bad the damage was. Expect at least 1 week or longer.
Off-Site Advanced Recovery
- If you absolutely must have the best chance of recovering your data and cannot afford any failed attempts, this is your best option for success. Business related data usually falls into this category.
- For this type of recovery, we are an official Partner with Drivesavers Data Recovery. They are a professional data recovery service and have extremely advanced options available to them to recover data from all but the worst situations.
- We provide two options to use DriveSavers:
- You give your storage media to us and we deal with DriveSavers on your behalf.
- You can contact DriveSavers directly via this link. Provide them the Discount Code for our company to receive a 10% discount on any recovery attempts.
- The 10% discount on DriveSavers rate is applicable using either method. If you choose to deal with DriveSavers through us, we charge a $40 fee on top of theirs. This covers all shipping costs and time spent working with them to resolve any issues.
- All fees related to DriveSavers' services are billed directly to you, and not through Foresight Technology.
- DriveSavers provides a "Zero Cost Guarantee". If they cannot recover your data, they charge you nothing. If you deal with DriveSavers through us, the $40 fee is still charged.
- Recovery costs for a single drive can range from $500-$2600 for a 5-7 day turn around. The cost depends on how much damage was done and how much data is recoverable.
